A u to m a tic A ntenna
The antenna sw itch can be a ctuated
w ith the radio sw itched on and the
key in ste erin g lock p o sitio n s " 1 "
o r " 2 " .
If the antenna sw itch is in ce n te r
position, the antenna extends
a u to m a tica lly to a s p e cific
height,
if th e an te nna sw itch is engaged
in the " m ax" p o sitio n, the
antenna extends fully,
if the antenna sw itch is engaged
in the " o ff" p ositio n, the
antenna w ill not extend o r w ill
re tra c t co m p le te ly.
The h e ig h t o f the ante nna can fu r­
th e rm o re be a d ju ste d c o n tin u o u s ly
by a ctu a tin g the anten na sw itch :
If th e an ten n a sw itch is in ce n te r
po sition, the antenna w ill extend
to th e s p e c ific height. The
f
a ntenna can be fu rth e r extended
o r re tra c te d to any h e ig ht by
rocking the sw itch (not enga g in g
it).
If the an ten na is to be re tra cte d ,
e. g. fo r p laying casettes, engage
sw itch in " o ff" po sitio n.
W hen the key is tu rn e d to
stee rin g lock p o s itio n " 0 " o r the
ra d io is tu rn e d off, th e antenna
w ill re tra c t co m p lete ly.
FM R eception
FM s ig n a ls tra ve l in a " lin e -o f-s ig h t" .
R e fle ctio ns o r " dead s p o ts " may
cause c a n c e lla tio n s o r loss o f the
signal as w e ll as stro n g sign al o ve r­
lo ading o r capture.
L o w e rin g the an tenn a h e ig h t in
stro n g signal areas may e lim in a te
m any o f the re su ltin g p ro b le m s and
re sto re good to n e q u a lity. However,
frin g e area re ce p tio n re q uire s the
fu ll a ntenna length to ca p tu re w eak
in co m in g sig n a ls. The a ntenna can
be op e ra te d by d e p re ssin g the re­
s p e c tiv e side o f the ro cke r sw itch.
FM S tereo R eception
W hen tuned to a FM ste re o station,
th e S tereo In d ic a to r L ig h t w ill lig h t
up. B ecause m ore in fo rm a tio n is
c a rrie d in the FM ste re o signal than
in FM m o n o ra ul b ro a d casts, flu tte r,
c a n c e lla tio n and ca p tu re effects
may be even m ore n o tice a b le . The
n o ise fre e b ro a d c a s t range, th e re ­
fore, is so m e w ha t less and a ccura te
tu n in g to the stro n g e s t available
ste re o s ta tio n s is req u ire d , e sp e cia l­
ly fo r frin g e area re ce p tio n .

a lly de sig ne d S tereo D e co der which
a u to m a tic a lly sw itches th e radio
from ste re o to m ono re ce p tio n if the
signal becom es to o w eak. However,
the S tereo In d ic a to r L ig h t rem ains
lit to avoid th e d is tra c tin g flic k e r at
sh o rt-tim e sig n a l changes. The radio
w ill return to th e ste re o m ode a u to ­
m a tic a lly when sig n a l stre n g th p e r­
m its it.
