Replacing the halogen lamp

If the halogen lamp for diascopic illumination has burned out, first check that all lasers are off, then
follow the steps given below to replace the halogen lamp.
Do not remove the lamphouse when the laser is on.
Never attempt to remove the diascopic illumination lamphouse when the laser is on.
Removing the lamphouse may cause the laser beam to be directed through the microscope's
diascopic illumination optical system and emitted through the mounting hole for the
lamphouse.
• A proper combination of lamp, illumination pillar, and power supply must be used. Check the
instruction manual supplied with your microscope to make sure that your combination is
correct. Use only the specified lamp.
• The lamp and nearby parts are extremely hot when the lamp is lit or immediately after it has
been turned off. Before replacing the lamp, turn off power and allow these parts to cool.
• Avoid touching the lamp with bare hands. Dirt or fingerprints on the lamp will cause uneven
illumination and shorten the life of the lamp. Wear gloves when handling lamps.
1 Switch off the power switches on all pieces of equipment and unplug the power cords.
2 Check that the halogen lamp is sufficiently cool.
3 Use the tools supplied with the microscope to remove the screws securing the lamphouse, then
detach the lamphouse from the microscope.
4 Detach the halogen lamp from the lamphouse
5 Attach a new halogen lamp of the specified type.
6 Attach the lamphouse to the microscope and secure in place with the screws.
Securely attach the lamphouse cover after lamp replacement. Never light the lamp with the
lamphouse cover left open.
