Chapter 5: AC power supply installation

This chapter provides the instructions to install the AC power supply in the Avaya Ethernet Routing Switch
8300 chassis. For the minimum Ethernet Routing Switch 8300 software version required to support the
hardware, see Avaya Ethernet Routing Switch 8300 Administration, NN46200-604.
The Ethernet Routing Switch 8300 chassis ships with no installed power supplies. Install the first power
supply in the leftmost bay. Power supply bays are logically numbered 1, 2, and 3 left to right as viewed
from the front of the chassis for the 8306 and 8310.
Important:
Do not install the 8301AC power supply and the 8302AC power supply within the same chassis. This
configuration is not supported.
For the 8306 and 8310 chassis, the number of power supplies you need to install (1, 2, or 3) depends on
the following specifications:
• number of modules installed in the chassis
• PoE requirements
• optional redundant power supply
To provide the required PoE for Powered Device (PD), use
power
on page 45 to determine the source input power (100–120 V AC or 200–240 V AC) and the
number of power supplies. For the input power specifications for each of the modules, see Avaya Ethernet
Routing Switch 8300 Installation — Modules, NN46200-305.
