Chain Lubrication

In the event of trouble with the chain
lubrication system, check and
rectify other sources of faults before
disassembling the oil pump.
Condition
Chain receives no oil
Machine losing chain oil
Oil pump delivers insufficient oil
MS 650, MS 660
Cause
Oil tank empty
Oil inlet hole in guide bar is
blocked
Intake hose or pickup body clogged
or intake hose ruptured
Sealing ring between oil pump and
crankcase faulty
Valve in oil tank blocked
Teeth on pump piston and/or worm
worn
Sealing ring between oil pump and
crankcase faulty
Housing gasket faulty
Oil pump damaged or worn
Vent valve does not close
Adjusting screw and/or control
edge on pump piston worn
Intake hose or pickup body clogged Clean or replace intake hose/
Oil pump worn
Remedy
Fill up with oil
Clean oil inlet hole
Fit new intake hose and pickup
body
Remove oil pump, fit new sealing
ring and reinstall pump
Clean or replace valve
Install new oil pump
Remove oil pump, fit new sealing
ring and reinstall pump
Fit new gasket
Install new oil pump
Install new vent valve
Fit new adjusting screw and/or oil
pump
pickup body
Install new oil pump
