Periodic Maintenance

To maintain drive operating reliably over a long period of time. Yaskawa recommends performing periodic inspections
and replacing consumable parts in accordance with their service lives. Periodic inspection standards vary depending on
the drive installation environment and usage conditions.
• Cooling fans
• Power cell smoothing capacitors
For the replacement of other parts, contact a Yaskawa representative or the nearest Yaskawa sales office. Replacement of
other drive components must be performed by trained professionals.
u Part Replacement Guidelines
Table 6.3
shows the estimated performance life of components that require replacement during the life of the drive. Only
use Yaskawa replacement parts for the appropriate drive model and version.

NOTICE: The standard replacement period is based on the conditions listed below. The times stated are for guidance, and the lives of
the parts are not guaranteed for these times. Some parts may require more frequent replacement due to poor environments or
rigorous use.
Usage conditions for standard replacement period:
• Ambient temperature: Yearly average of 30
• Load factor: 80% maximum
• Operation time: 12 hours or fewer a day
u Performance Life Monitors/Maintenance Monitors
The drive has Maintenance Monitors that keep track of component wear. This feature provides advance maintenance
warning and eliminates the need to shut down the entire system for unexpected problems. The drive allows the user to
check predicted maintenance periods for the components listed below.
• Cooling Fan
• Power Cell smoothing capacitors
• Inrush prevention circuit breaker (option)
• IGBTs
The drive calculates the maintenance period for components that may require replacement during the life of the drive. A
percentage of the maintenance period is displayed on the digital operator by viewing the appropriate monitor parameter.
When the maintenance period reaches 100%, there is increased risk that the drive may malfunction. Yaskawa
recommends checking the maintenance period regularly to ensure maximum performance life.
