MIDI-related settings (after making connections)
Setting the MIDI channel
In order to exchange data with a connected external MIDI device, you must set the minilogue xd's
MIDI channel to match the MIDI channel of the external MIDI device.
Refer to "MIDI Ch" (p.41) to set the minilogue xd's MIDI channel.
When synchronizing to an external MIDI device, refer to that device's owner's manual.
Tip:
Configuring the MIDI "LOCAL" setting when connected to an external MIDI se-
quencer or computer
The Echo Back setting of your external MIDI sequencer or computer system allows the MIDI notes
and other messages being played by the minilogue xd to be instantly passed along to any other
MIDI equipment, including synthesizers, tone generators. However, this same Echo Back func-
tion can cause the minilogue xd to double trigger: once when you play the note, and a second time
as the external MIDI sequencer of computer system sends the note back to the minilogue xd. To
prevent this from happening, you can simply turn off the "Local SW" (p.39) in GLOBAL EDIT
mode on the minilogue xd.
MIDI filter settings
Use these settings to configure whether program changes, control changes and pitch bend mes-
sages will be transmitted and received.
Use "Button 7 (GLOBAL 5)" (p.42) to make these detailed settings.
Synchronizing your performance with the sequencer
Use "Clock Source" (p.41) to set whether the minilogue xd will be the master (the device con-
trolling the synchronization) or the slave (the device being controlled) when the sequencer is play-
ing.
When synchronizing to an external MIDI device, refer to that device's owner's manual.
Using the minilogue xd as the master to slave external MIDI devices
Connect the MIDI OUT connector of the minilogue xd to the MIDI IN connector of your external
MIDI device(s).
Set the "Clock Source" (p.41) on the minilogue xd to "Internal". Configure the external MIDI
device to receive clock data via MIDI. The minilogue xd will act as the master, and the tempo that
is set using the TEMPO knob on the minilogue xd will be sent as MIDI timing clock data to oper-
ate the external MIDI device (sequencers, rhythm machines, and so on).
Slaving the minilogue xd clock to an external MIDI device (master)
Connect the MIDI IN connector of the minilogue xd to the MIDI OUT connector of your external
MIDI device.
Set the "Clock Source" (p.41) of the minilogue xd to "Auto (MIDI)," and configure the external
MIDI device to transmit MIDI clock data.
The minilogue xd will automatically act as the slave whenever a MIDI timing clock is received,
and will be driven by the tempo of the external MIDI device (sequencers, rhythm machines, and
so on).
Even if you set the "Clock Source" on the minilogue xd to "Auto (USB)" or "Auto
Note:
(MIDI)," the minilogue xd will operate in internal MIDI clock mode, unless a clock is re-
ceived from an external device.
