Testing throttle valve control unit

Note:
If the throttle valve control unit (J338) is removed
and installed or replaced, it is then necessary to
carry out a basic setting ⇒ page 24-10.
Special tools, testers and aids required
♦ Vehicle system tester V.A.G 1552 together
with cable V.A.G 1551/3
♦ Test box V.A.G 1598/22
♦ Hand-held multimeter V.A.G 1526 A or multi-
meter V.A.G 1715
♦ Adapter cable set V.A.G 1594 A
♦ Current flow diagram
Testing idling switch
- Connect vehicle system tester V.A.G 1552
and select the control unit for engine electro-
nics with the „address word“ 01. The ignition
should be switched on for this step.

K Readout on display:
- Press the keys 0 and 8 for the function „read
measured value block“ and confirm the entry
with the key Q.
K Readout on display:
- Press the keys 0 and 1 for „display group
number 01“ and confirm the entry with the
key Q.
K Readout on display:

(1...4 = display fields)
- Pay attention to the 8-digit numerical block
in display field 4:
(Ignore the 4 places on the right)
