1) At high engine loads, e.g. under the following conditions, the idling speed is increased by the engine control unit:
♦ Battery voltage too low: up to 850 rpm
♦ Air conditioning on: up to 900 rpm
♦ Cold start: at +20 °C up to 900 rpm, at -20 °C up to 1350 rpm
♦ Max. steering angle: up to 850 rpm
2) If replaced, carry out basic setting ⇒ page 24-10.

l No fault stored in fault memory

Test procedure
- Connect vehicle system tester V.A.G 1552
and select engine electronics control unit with
the address word 01. The ignition should be
switched on for this step. (Connecting vehicle
system tester and selecting engine electro-
nics control unit ⇒ page 01-2.)
