2. PRECAUTIONS

Handling
- Do not drop the scanner.
- Avoid letting the scanner undergo any physical shock or impact.
- Keep the scanner away from water.
- Do not use the scanner in any of the following environments:
- in dusty areas,
- in rain,
- where there are excessively high temperatures,
- in places exposed to direct sunlight,
- near a strong electric or magnetic field, or
- where static electricity can build into significant charges.
- Do not apply the reading window to printed characters, ruled lines,
wood grain, or other patterns other than bar codes.
- Do not pull the cable strongly.
- Do not insert any pointed object through the reading window.
Maintenance
- Do not wipe the scanner with thinner or benzene.
- Never disassemble the scanner.
Installation/Storage
Do not set up or store the scanner in places where:
- there are excessively high temperatures (e.g., near heating
equipment),
- it may be subject to vibration (e.g., on machinery),
- it may be exposed to water splash (e.g., near a bucket or water tank),
or
- the humidity is extremely high (e.g., in a greenhouse).
