Checking parallel alignment of fixed tubes

Note:
The fork bridge must slide smoothly over the fixed
tubes.
•
Install upper fork bridge.
•
Check that fixed tubes are parallel with sliding
calipers.
•
Check flush alignment of steering tube with re-
spect to fixed tube.

Checking fixed tube runout

Place both ends of fixed tube in V-blocks.

Warning:
Do not attempt to straighten bent fixed tubes.
•
Rotate fixed tube slowly and check with dial
gauge.
Fixed fork tube runout limit .......... 0.1 mm (0.004 in)
