CLUTCH
5. Inspect:
S Primary drive gear teeth
Wear/damage ! Replace the clutch
housing.
6. Check:
S Circumferential play
Free play ! Replace the clutch housing.
7. Inspect:
S Clutch spring
Damage ! Replace the clutch spring.
8. Measure:
S Clutch spring free length
Out of specification ! Replace the clutch
springs as a set.
Free length (clutch spring):
39.5 mm
<Wear limit>: 38.5 mm
9. Inspect:
S Dogs (on the clutch housing)
Pitting/wear/damage ! Deburr or re-
place.
S Clutch housing bearing
Wear/damage ! Replace the clutch housing.
NOTE:
Pitting on the clutch housing dogs will cause er-
ratic operation.
10. Inspect:
S Clutch boss splines
Pitting/wear/damage ! Replace the
clutch boss.
NOTE:
Pitting on the clutch boss splines will cause er-
ratic operation.
11. Inspect:
S Pressure plate
Cracks/damage ! Replace.
