Great emphasis has been placed on ensuring that the
new SLS AMG is also a safe vehicle. Safety is achieved
with some familiar and some newly developed
systems and components.
The main features ensuring high levels of driving
safety include:
• ADAPTIVE BRAKE with the additional functions:
Hill-Start Assist, precharging and dry braking, and
Brake Assist System (BAS)
• Large track width
• Double wishbone front and rear axle
• Tire pressure monitor (TPM [RDK]) (code 475)
• Speed-dependent vehicle locking

The vehicle is automatically locked as of a vehicle

unlocked by pressing the left door central locking
inside door handle switch (S85/5) or the right
door central locking inside door handle switch
(S85/6).

Unlocking by pulling the door pin is always

A high level of stress-reducing safety is achieved
through:
• AMG-sport seats with good seat position
• Heat-insulating glass all round
• THERMOTRONIC automatic air conditioning
• Cruise control including SPEEDTRONIC
The components which improve or provide support for
perceptual safety include:
• Bi-xenon headlamps in combination with LED
technology
• Adaptive brake lights
• Center high-mounted stop lamp
• Rain sensor with two sensitivity settings adjustable
on the combination switch
Operating safety is provided by:
• An ergonomically designed driver seat which is
also suitable for large persons
• Optimally arranged controls and the comfort
multifunction steering wheel with a 4.5-inch
display in the instrument cluster
• COMAND with adapted control and display
concept incl. Audio/COMAND control panel. This
helps the driver keep the vehicle and all
information and communication systems under
control.
