(4) Changing engine oil

Change engine lubricating oil following the instructions in the Cummins Engine Shop Manual
(Chapter 6). Lube oil capacity for this engine is 17.3 QUARTS.

(5) Changing engine oil filter

Change the oil filter following the instructions in the Cummins Engine Shop Manual (Chapter 6).
E. Starter
The starting motor is lubricated at assembly and should be relubricated only when the starter is
removed from the engine or when disassembled.
Remove pipe plugs on outside of motor and apply a few drops of light engine oil to the oil wicks.

MAINTENANCE REQUIRED
Check oil level daily or after every 10 hours of use. Change oil after 200 hours
or one month of use. Use heavy duty oil such as SAE-30 (MIL-L-2104B).
Engine lube oil capacity: 17.3 QUARTS.
Change oil filter every 200 hours or 1 month of use.
Drain filter daily. Change filter element every 800 hours or 6 months of use.
Lubricate as needed, using heavy duty engine oil such as SAE-30
(MIL-L-2104B). Lubricate only when starter is removed from engine.
Check coolant level daily. Service and maintain coolant system according to
para. 6. Engine coolant capacity: 15.3 QUARTS.
Change air cleaner cartridge as required by air cleaner indicator (on engine
control panel).
AC generator bearings are sealed and require no periodic lubrication.
