CAUTION:
The DIMMs are located very close to the CPU heat sync, which might still be
hot. Avoid touching the CPU heat sync when removing the DIMM.
Attention: Carefully hold the DIMM by the edges to avoid pressure on the
components on the DIMM circuit board.
5. Repeat these steps to remove additional DIMMs as needed.

Installing the system DIMMs

To install one or more system DIMMs, you must perform a specific sequence of
steps.
Procedure
1. If you are not already grounded, properly ground yourself.
2. Locate the slot where you are installing the new DIMM.
3. Remove the replacement DIMM from the antistatic shipping bag, hold the
DIMM by the corners, and align it over the slot. The notch among the pins on
the DIMM should line up with the tab in the socket.
4. Insert the DIMM straight into the slot. The DIMM fits tightly in the slot, but
should go in easily. If not, realign the DIMM with the slot and reinsert it.
Attention: Visually inspect the DIMM to verify that it is evenly aligned and
fully inserted into the slot.
5. Push carefully, but firmly, on the top edge of the DIMM until the latches snap
into place over the notches at the ends of the DIMM.
6. Repeat the preceding steps to install additional DIMMs as needed.
v If you are only replacing the DIMM, plug in the battery, close the CPU air
duct, and then go to "Reinstalling the controller module and booting the
system" on page 38.
v If you are replacing both the DIMMs and the NVMEM battery, continue with
the next step and the following topics.
7. Close the CPU air duct.
