System cover

The system cover protects the innyards of the server, while also help maintaining proper flow of air inside
the server. The removal of the system cover also actuate the intrusion switch and this aids in maintaining
system security.

Removing the system cover

Prerequisites
CAUTION: Many repairs may only be done by a certified service technician. You should only
perform troubleshooting and simple repairs as authorized in your product documentation, or as
directed by the online or telephone service and support team. Damage due to servicing that is
not authorized by Dell is not covered by your warranty. Read and follow the safety instructions
that came with the product.
NOTE: You must remove the system cover to service other components inside the system.
1.
Follow the safety guidelines listed in the Safety instructions section.
2.
Follow the procedure listed in the Before working inside your system section.
3.
Turn off the blade using CMC.
4.
Remove the blade from the enclosure.
5.
Install the I/O connector cover.
Steps
1.
Press the release buttons and slide the cover toward the back of the blade.
2.
Lift the cover away from the blade.
