Using Web services

It is possible to give a scan command from a computer (Windows Vista) on the network or to perform
scanning according to the purpose from the machine and to send the scanned data to the computer. This
section describes settings that should be specified on the computer in advance.
6.5.1

Settings required for using Web services

The following settings are required for using Web services:
- Install the driver of the machine on the computer.
- Specify settings for Web services on the machine.

Installing the driver of this machine on the computer

Pre-installation checking

% Before installation, check that "Network discovery" is enabled in [Network and Sharing Center]
accessed from [Control Panel].

Installation procedure

Click the [Start] button, and then select [Network].
Devices connected to the network are listed.

Right-click the scanner icon on the machine, and then select [Install].
– Depending on the settings on the computer, the UAC (User Account Control) dialog box may
appear. Check the contents, and then continue.
– The driver software is installed automatically. When the confirmation dialog box appears, click the
[Close] button.

On the control panel of the machine, select [Web Service] and check that the connection destination is
displayed.
