OPERATION
14. ENGINE ALTERNATOR TROUBLE LIGHT-The
yellow engine alternator light is off when battery
charging system is functioning normally. If light turns
on, the alternator or the voltage regulator may not be
operating correctly. The light may also come on due
to the battery not holding a charge. It is normal for the
light to come on while starting the engine.
15. ENGINE HOUR METER – Displays the total time
that the engine has been running. This meter is useful
for scheduling prescribed maintenance.
STARTING AND STOP-
PING THE ENGINE
1. Remove all plugs connected to the AC power
receptacles.
2. Set IDLER switch to AUTO.
3. Set the RUN/STOP switch to RUN.
4. Pull the choke to the full out position.
5. Press and hold the engine START button until the
engine starts.
6. Release the engine START button when the engine
starts.
7. Push the choke back in.
8. The engine will run at high idle speed for approxi-
mately 12 seconds and then go to low idle speed.
Allow the engine to warm up at low idle for several
minutes before applying a load and/or switching to
high idle. Allow a longer warm up time in cold
weather.
CAUTION
Operating the starter motor for more than 5 sec-
onds can damage the motor. If the engine fails to
start, release the switch and wait 10 seconds
before operation the starter again. Do NOT push
the START button while the engine is running
because this can damage the ring gear and/or the
starter motor.
NOTE: When starting a Ranger 250 for the first time,
or after an extended period of time of not operating, it
will take longer than normal because the fuel pump
has to fill the fuel line and carburetor.

14. FOCO DE AVISO DE FALLA EN
ALTERNADOR DEL MOTOR -la luz amarilla del
alternador del motor se apaga cuando el sistema de
carga de la batería está funcionando normalmente. Si
la luz se enciende, el alternador o el regulador de
voltaje posiblemente no esté
correctamente. Asimismo, la luz puede encenderse
cuando la batería no retiene carga. Es normal que la
luz se encienda mientras se arranca el motor.
15. MEDIDOR DE HORAS DEL MOTOR – este
medidor muestra el tiempo total que el motor ha
estado funcionando. Este medidor es un indicador útil
para programar mantenimiento preventivo.
MARCHA Y PARO
DEL MOTOR
1. Retire todos los enchufes conectados en los
receptáculos de CA.
2.Fije el interruptor IDLER (ahogador) en la posición
AUTO.
3. Establezca el interruptor RUN/STOP en RUN.
4. Saque el ahogador por completo.
5. Presione y manténga el botón START del motor
hasta que arranque la máquina.
6. Libere el botón de START (Inicio) cuando arranque
el motor.
7. Vuelva a introducir el ahogador.
8. El motor funcionará a velocidad alta durante
aproximadamente 12 segundos y después pasará
a velocidad baja. Deje que el motor se caliente a
baja velocidad por algunos minutos antes de
aplicar carga y acelerar. En climas fríos deje más
tiempo de calentamiento.
PRECAUCION
Operar el motor del arrancador por más de 5
segundos puede dañar el motor. Si el motor no
arranca, libere el interruptor y espere 10 segundos
antes de volver a arrancar. NO presione el botón
de START (Marcha) mientras el motor esté
funcionando ya que esto podría dañar el engrane
y el motor del arrancador.
NOTA: Al encender la Ranger 250 por primera vez, o
después de un tiempo prolongado fuera de
funcionamiento, tardará más de lo normal debido a
que la bomba de combustible tiene que llenar la línea
de combustible.

EL 14. VOYANT D'ANOMALIE DE L'ALTERNATEUR DU
MOTEUR. Le voyant jaune de l'alternateur du moteur
est éteint quand le système de charge de la batterie
fonctionne normalement. Si le voyant s'allume, l'alterna-
teur ou le régulateur de tension peut ne pas fonctionner
operando
correctement. Le voyant peut s'allumer également
quand la batterie ne tient pas la charge. Il est normal que
le voyant s'allume quand on fait démarrer le moteur.
15. COMPTEUR HORAIRE DU MOTEUR. Il affiche le
nombre d'heures totales pendant lesquelles le moteur a
fonctionné. Ce compteur est utile pour programmer l'en-
tretien prescrit.
DÉMARRAGE
ARRÊT DU MOTEUR
1. Déconnecter toutes les fiches des prises c.a.
2. Régler le sélecteur IDLER sur AUTO.
3. Régler le sélecteur RUN/STOP sur RUN.
4. Tirer à fond la commande du volet de départ.
5. Appuyer sur le bouton START du moteur jusqu'à ce
que le moteur démarre.
6. Relâcher le bouton START quand le moteur
démarre.
7. Repousser la commande du volet de départ.
8. Le moteur tourne alors au ralenti haut pendant envi-
ron 12 secondes puis passe au ralenti bas. Laisser
le moteur se réchauffer au ralenti bas pendant
plusieurs minutes avant d'appliquer une charge et/ou
de le mettre sur ralenti haut. Laisser le moteur se
réchauffer plus longtemps par temps froid.
ATTENTION
Si le démarreur fonctionne pendant plus de 5 secon-
des, il peut s'endommager. Si le moteur ne démarre
pas, relâcher le bouton-poussoir et attendre 10 sec-
ondes avant de réutiliser le démarreur.
appuyer sur le bouton START pendant que le moteur
tourne pour ne pas endommager la couronne dentée
et/ou le moteur du démarreur.
NOTE : Un Ranger 250 que l'on utilise pour la première
fois ou après une longue période de non-fonctionnement
peut mettre plus de temps à démarrer parce que la
pompe à essence doit remplir la canalisation d'essence
et le carburateur.
