Programming Presets

By selecting a Preset, all the settings memorized
to the Preset are recalled in a single step. In
addition to the panel changes, a Preset can also
memorize other parameters, such as effect set-
tings, the status of the controllers, (pedals, Pitch
Bender, etc.), the MIDI channel configuration and
many others.
Let's examine all the Preset parameters that can
be modified and saved to the Presets.
To construct a Preset, you start by selecting a
number of sounds, or Tracks. A Preset can con-
tain as little as only one Track or as many as 16
Tracks layered together. Regardless of how
many Tracks you actually decide to use, you will
always be able to view 16 Tracks within your Pre-
set. How many of the sounds you actually de-
cide to activate and use is entirely your choice. If
you only decide, for example, that you want to
layer three sounds together, then you only need
to be concerned with the first three Tracks in the

Multi Track List

MULTI TRACK LIST
The Track List can be viewed by pressing the
MULTI button (F7/F8). If you are not currently in
one of the default displays, press the GRAND
PIANO button, (or one of the other single sound
button adjacent to this buttons).
You can move from one Track to another with
the Cursor up/down keys. The part shown se-
lected (negative highlight) is the active zone of
the display, therefore, the activation of the Track
is made with the corresponding Soft button (A-
H) and other tracks can be brought into view with
the Track Scroll buttons. The active tracks are
shown by the track status icon in the left display
column. If all the tracks are set to MUTE, you
will hear no sound.
The 8 panel sliders, (marked A-H underneath)
adjust the volumes of the tracks shown in the dis-
play.
Sound assignments are made using the SOUND
GROUPS buttons and +/– Page/Bank buttons to
scroll the banks. Sound assignments are best
made with the DISPLAY HOLD function off, so
that the display returns to the Preset you are pro-
gramming every time you select a Sound.
EDIT MENU
Every track of the current Preset can be inde-
pendently programmed in the Preset Edit Menu.
Press the EDIT button to enter the EDIT MENU.
The Edit Menu contains several editors, most of
which affect the Tracks of the Preset you are pro-
gramming. Those not examined here are, Gen-
eral and Edit Sequencer.
Select the editors with the Cursor buttons and
press ENTER to gain access to the relative pa-
rameters.
The tracks of the Preset in edit are shown in the
left track column at all times, therefore you can
select your tracks without returning to the Multi
Track list.
