12.2 Error messages – Base unit display
If the unit detects a problem, one or more of the following messages will appear on the display.

Cause & Solution
L The cordless handset is in use.
L The cordless handset you are calling is too far from the base unit.
L There is something wrong with the unit. Contact our service
personnel.
L The document was not fed into the unit properly. Re-insert the
document. If misfeeding occurs frequently, clean the document
feeder rollers (page 96) and try again.
L Attempted to send a document longer than 600 mm. Press
{STOP} to remove the document. Divide the document into two or
more sheets and try again.
L Memory (telephone numbers, parameters, etc.) has been erased.
Re-program.
L The cover is open. Close it and press {FAX/START} to clear the
message.
L The unit has run out of recording paper. Install recording paper
(page 9) and press {FAX/START} to clear the message.
L The unit has a document in memory. See the other displayed
message instructions to print out the document. For fax memory
capacity, see page 100.
L The memory is full of received documents due to a lack of
recording paper or a recording paper jam. Install paper (page 9) or
clear the jammed paper (page 95).
L When performing broadcast transmission, the document being
stored exceeded the memory capacity of the unit. Send the entire
document manually.
L There is no space to store new items in the base unit phonebook.
Erase unnecessary items (page 30).
L There is no memory available to record voice messages. Erase
unnecessary messages (page 56).
L There is something wrong with the unit's modem. Contact our
service personnel.
L The other party's fax machine is busy or has run out of recording
paper. Try again.
L A recording paper jam occurred. Clear the jammed paper (page
95).
L The unit is checking and initializing the paper cutter. Wait for a
moment while the check is completed.
L The other party's fax machine does not support polling. Check with
the other party.
L The other party's fax machine is busy or has run out of recording
paper. Try again.
