Checking and adjusting the steering head bearing *

Check steering head bearing for play periodically. For check put motorcycle
on stand so that the front wheel is off the ground. Now try to move the
fork forward and backward.
To adjust, loosen the collar screw
the upper triple clamp. Insert a pin (6 mm)
adjust as required. Do not tighten the adjusting nut since this might damage
the bearings. Tighten the collar screw
for easy action. Tap the upper triple clamp with a plastic hammer to avoid
distortion, tighten the clamping screws

F THE STEERING HEAD BEARING IS NOT ADJUSTED TO BE FREE OF PLAY
WILL EXHIBIT UNSTEADY DRIVING CHARACTERISTICS AND CAN GET OUT OF CONTROL

F YOU DRIVE WITH PLAY IN THE STEERING HEAD BEARING FOR LONGER PERIODS
BEARINGS AND SUBSEQUENTLY THE BEARING SEATS IN THE FRAME WILL BE DESTROYED
The steering head bearings should be regreased at least once a year
(i.g. Motorex Long Therm 2000)
Adjusting the fork offset (caster) *
The fork offset (center fork legs – center steering head bearing) can be
adjusted to adapt the handling to the race course.
To adjust, loosen the clamping screws
(6 mm) in the adjusting nut
clockwise direction (not clockwise or you will change the positioning of the
steering head bearings). The groove
triple clamp. Tighten the clamping screws to 20 Nm.

If the groove
is on the left, the offset is 12.5 mm and the caster
97.4 mm. This setting will give you better handling in curves.

If the groove
is on the right, the offset is 7.5 mm and the caster
99.2 mm. This setting will give you better driving stability on straight
stretches.

MUST ALWAYS MATCH THE SLOT IN THE UPPER TRIPLE CLAMP
THE MOTORCYCLE WILL RUN OFF TRACK WHICH LEADS TO UNSTABLE HANDLING
