The image data of the original, conveyed through the reading mechanism,
and is ready by contact image
sensor (CIS). This is amplified and is turned into black and white or halftone signals through the LSI (FAX
Engine IC1O).
This signal is written into the line memory (inside of ICI O).
The LSI (CPU-IC1 O) encode the contents of line memory.
After encoding, the coded data is stored in the FIFO (IC2).
Further the CPU (ICI O) sends the one byte data in the FIFO (IC2) to the MODEM (IC1 O), synchronizing
with
the interrupt signal from the MODEM (IC1 O).
Through repetition of this operation, the image data for each line
IS
encoded arm modulated through the
MODEM (IC1O), and transmitted
over the line through the NCU (M3 P.W.B.).

This signals received from the LINE enter the MODEM (IC1 O) through the NCU.
In the same manner as in transmission,
the coded data which is modulated
in the MODEM is stored in the
FIFO (IC2) with an interruption
for each interrupt from the MODEM (IC1 O).
The LSI (IC1O) reads out and decodes the data from the FIFO (IC2), and out put to the Thermal Head
Printer.
