    Specifications The Astra 1220U The Astra 1220U Flatbed Scanner is a highly reliable, high quality product which is designed to give long term service. However, like all opto-electronic products, occasional routine maintenance may be required for certain scanner components. This service manual is provided so that qualified maintenance and repair technicians can perform service as needed.

    CCD Pin Assignment Astra 1220U Electronic Systems The Astra 1220U consists of several electronic component systems which work together when a document is scanned. The systems and their functions are described as follows (see Fig. 2-1 below). A scanning lamp to illuminate the document.

    Service Manual The Opto-Mechanical The opto-mechanical system consists of the following (see Fig. 2-2 below): Three mirrors to guide the optical path from the document being scanned to the image sensor. One lense to focus and reduce the size of the image. Resolution of Lens is 600dpi.

    Aging Overview The Astra 1220U offers excellent performance, but, (as with other high end products), in a limited range of environments. Astra 1220U performance drops, and perhaps will fail, under adverse environmental conditions. For correct diagnosis of malfunctions, it is important to understand the relationship between environment and performance.

    Service Manual Humidity Changes in humidity tend not to affect the operation of the scanner in obvious ways. In certain extreme situations, however, the effects cannot be overlooked. 1. In humid regions, the relative humidity may be less than or equal to 85%. If the scanner is not used for a long time, a moisture-induced film may coat optical surfaces.
