5.Hard Disk Drives

5.2. Removing/Installing Hard Disk Drive/Blank Insert

CAUTION!
Do not remove a hard disk drive from an operating array if you are not sure that it belongs to a
faultless and fault tolerance RAID configuration (RAID level 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 or 60), otherwise data will
be lost.
The hard disk drives must all be marked clearly so that they can be put back into the original bays
after an upgrade. If this is not taken into account, existing data can be destroyed.
To avoid temperature rise, replacing a hard disk should be finished within 5 minutes if the storage
subsystem is operating.
The hard disk drives which can be ordered for the storage subsystem are delivered pre-installed in frames.
Removing a hard disk drive from the frame may only be done in authorized repair centers.
