General

Information on the principal canopy repair is given in this chapter.

Description

The DA20-C1 aircraft has a one-piece lifting canopy. It has a carbon-fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP)
frame and one large acrylic transparency. The transparency has two small emergency windows.
The canopy has a hinge at the back and a stabilizing rod on each side. The support arms have
counterbalance springs to help operate the canopy.
A locking system locks the canopy closed. Two latch-levers operate the locking system. One lever is on
the inside of the canopy on the left side. And one lever is on the inside of the canopy on the right side.
Later model aircraft are equipped with handles located on the outside of the canopy in addition to the
internal ones.
