For optimum operation of the engine in cold weather, the appropriate
use of carburetor heat is recommended.
Indicated as a guideline:
(1)
Use carburetor heat duTing engine warm-up and ground check.
Full carburetor heat may UC! required for temperatures below 10°F,
whereas partial heat could be used in temperatures between 10°F
and 40°F.
(2)
Use the minimum carburetor heat required for smooth operation
in take-off, climb, and cruise.
When operating in sub-zero temperatures, care 'should be
exercised when using partial carburetor heat to avoid
iCing.

If the aircraft is equipped with a carburetor air temperature

optimum mixture distribution, and avoid excessive manual leaning in

Avoid sudden throttle movements during ground and flight opera­
tion.
