Paper jam detection
The following paper sensors are provided to detect whether paper is
present and whether the paper is fed normally:
•
PS302 Registration paper sensor on the pick-up PCB
•
PS303 Paper top sensor on the pick-up PCB
•
PS6 Attraction sensor
•
PS7 Separation sensor
•
PS9 Delivery paper sensor
The CPU in the mechanical controller determines if a paper jam has
occurred by checking for the presence of paper in the sensor at the
timing preset in its CPU.
If the CPU determines that a jam has occurred, it will report the
jam to the DC controller and stop the print operation. The DC
controller then notifies the video controller that a jam has occurred.
Pick-up delay jam
The CPU determines that a pick-up delay jam has occurred if the
paper has not reached the registration paper sensor (PS302) within a
specified period of time after the feed solenoid is engaged.
