Common operating systems for clients are classified as follows:
• Windows 95/98/Me/XP, Windows 2000, and Windows NT:
The print server provides PTPP (peer-to-peer printing) drivers and utilities for
Windows 95/98/Me/XP, Windows 2000, and Windows NT users. PTPP
supports IPX, TCP/IP, and NetBEUI protocols. While printing after
installation, PTPP will automatically select the proper transport protocol to
connect to the print server depending on the protocols installed in each
computer (the client computer may only have one of the three protocols
installed). See Figure 2-5. The application-to-protocol paths are highlighted in
gray.
