erratically, it
may need

Taking Care of Disks
To
protect the information
on your
disks,
observe
these
precautions:
Never
remove a disk from a disk drive when the disk drive light is on.
The disk
drive light tells
you that
the Amiga
is
using
a
disk. Taking
a disk out too soon
may ruin the
information on the
disk.
Keep disks away from magnets.
Microdisks, like-
audio
tapes,
store informa-
tion magnetically
.
Magnets can
ruin the information
on a
disk
.
In
addition to
more
obvious
magnets
,
beware of magnets in
telephones, loudspeakers,
and
electric
motors
.
Keep disks dry and away from extreme heat or cold.
Microdisks
are comfort-
able at
about the
same
temperatures
you are.
Don't
leave
disks in direct sunlight
,
near heat
sources, or in cars
parked
in
the
sun
.
Don't touch the surface of the disk.
A microdisk's metal
cover closes automati-
cally
whentiver
you
remove the disk
from a
disk drive
.
Don
'
t touch the
surface of
the disk underneath the
cover.
Make copies of important disks.
The best insurance
for
the information
on a
disk is to make
a copy of
the disk and keep the
copy
in
a
safe
place
.
Make
a
habit
of copying an
important disk
each
time
you finish working
with it.
Store your disks
in
a
clean, dust-free
container
when not in
use
. Dust
can
ruin
the
information
on a
disk
.
