Coolant, Draining

WARNING!
Stop the engine and let it cool before starting work on
the cooling system. Hot fluids and hot surfaces can
cause burns.
WARNING!
All coolant is hazardous and harmful to the
environment. Do not consume. Coolant is flammable.
Drain the coolant via taps (F).
1 Remove the filling cap (1) from the expansion
tank.
2 Connect a hose to each drain point. Open the
taps and allow all the coolant to drain off into a
suitable vessel.
Check that all coolant really does drain out.
Deposits may need to be cleared away, inside
the drain plug(s)/tap(s).
3 Also drain the heating system, tap water heater
etc., if connected to the engine's freshwater sys-
tem.
4 Close all drain taps.
5 Collect the old coolant and hand it to a re-cycling
station for destruction.
