Handset does not ring

• The handset ringer volume may be set to Off, see page 36.
Base unit does not ring
• The base ringer volume may be set to Off, see page 40.
Noise interference on my phone or on other electrical
equipment nearby
• Place your C5010A at least one metre away from electrical appliances or
any metal obstructions to avoid any risk of interference.
Answering machine will not record new messages
• Is the recording memory full? Play and delete messages, see page 52.
• Is the OGM set to Answer Only? Change the OGM to Answer & Record,
see page 51.
• Make sure you don't have a network answering service taking the
messages, to check dial 1571.
Text messages cannot be sent and screen displays
Message Sending Failed!
• The base station power supply or telephone line cord might not be
properly connected. Check that the base station power supply is plugged
into the mains socket and switched on and that the telephone is plugged
into the telephone wall socket.
• There might be a fault on the line. Check your telephone line is working
properly.
• You might have deleted the server number in error. See page 59 for
instructions on how to enter the number.
Cannot receive text
• For some network operator, you will not be able to receive text messages
until you have first sent a message. T he first message sent registers you
with the text service.
• More than one text messaging product is plugged into the line. Remove
other products.
• Check service centre number is correct.
• Ensure you have subscribed to a Caller Display service and that it is
active. Y ou can check this by noting if your phone displays your caller's
number when you receive an incoming call.
• If you are using personal user areas please ensure you have given people
your user area number and that they are entering it to the end of your
telephone number when sending you a text message.
