Solving problems

The following tables list some problems you may experience and the suggested solutions. If the
problem persists after all suggested solutions have been exhausted, call for service. (See page 89.)

No feeding from the manual
bypass.
Jam in the ADF.
Front or rear cover is not securely
latched.
Problem in the fuser unit.
No document loaded in the manual
bypass.
A problem in the LSU (laser
scanning unit).
Collated copy is too large for
memory.
Toner cartridge is not installed.
No paper in the paper tray.
Paper jam in the feeding area of
the paper tray.
Paper jam in the paper exit area.
Paper jam in the fuser and toner
cartridge areas.
Power interruption and the
machine's memory is not saved.
Prompt appears when the machine
is powered on.
Toner cartridge has run out.
Toner is near empty.

Solution
Load paper in the manual bypass
or remove the jam from the manual
bypass.
Clear the jam.
Close the covers until they lock.
Unplug the power cord and plug it
back in. If the problem persists,
call for service.
Load print media into the manual
bypass and try again.
Unplug the power cord and plug it
back in. If the problem persists,
call for service. See page 89.
Reduce the number of pages in
the job.
Install the toner cartridge.
Load paper. See page 24.
Clear the jam. See page 73.

Restart the job you were trying to
