Improving the print quality

If you have a print quality problem, print a test page first (see Menu table on page 77). If the printout looks
good, the problem is probably not the printer. Check the interface cable or try the printer on another computer.
This section gives information on the following topics.
Note
You can resolve a print quality problem by replacing a toner cartridge with a new one when the toner
indicators start blinking or the LCD shows the Toner Life End message.

Recommendation
Make sure that the printer is on a solid level surface.
Make sure that the back cover is closed properly.
Make sure that the toner cartridges are installed properly.
Make sure that the drum unit is installed properly.
Put in a new drum unit. (See Replacing the drum unit on page 103.)
Make sure that the recommended paper was used.
Change the paper to freshly unpacked paper.
Make sure that the back cover is closed properly.
Shake the toner cartridges gently.
Wipe the scanner windows with a dry lint free soft cloth. (See Cleaning the
inside of the scanner windows on page 121.)
