Shooting Options: The Shooting Menu

Press the shutter-release button halfway.
• The camera focuses on the face framed by the double
border The double border will glow green and focus
will be locked.
• When the camera is unable to focus on a face, the
double border will blink. Press the shutter-release
button halfway again and focus.
• Press the shutter-release button all the way down
to
shoot.
• If the shutter-release button is fully pressed down while [.;:.] (smile timer) or ~ (blink
proof) is set, the shutter will release automatically when the camera detects a smiling
face ([[]S4)
• When the
Blink warning
option in the setup menu is set to
On
(default setting), the
Did someone blink?
screen will appear immediately after shooting if there is a
possibility that the subjects' eyes are closed. You can check the picture taken and
deterrTilne if you need to take the picture agairi ([[]149, lS0)To return to the shooting
mode, press

button or press the shutter-release button halfway down.

Notes on Face Priority
• When
Face priority
is selected for
AF area
mode, the setting will automcltically switch to
Auto
if

face is detected when the shutter-release button is pressed halfway
• If no feKe is recognized when the shutter-release button is pl'essed halfway in the
Portrait or Night
portrait
scerle modes, the camerd will focus on the subject in the center focus area.
• The camera may be unable to detect faces in the follOWing situations
- When faces are partially hidden by sunglClsses or other obstructions
- When the subject is not looking directly at the camera
When faces take up too much or too little of the frame
• The cdillera's ability to detect faces depends on a variety of factors, including whether or rlot the
subject is

the camera.
• In sorne rare cases of shooting subjects with which autofocus may not perform as expected
([D29), the subject may not be in focus despite the fact that the double border glows _reen.
Should this occur, change the AI= area mode setting to
Manual or Center

modes, refocus Oil another subject positioned at the same distance from the Cdrnera

• Pictures that were shot using face priority will be rotated automdtically when displJyed in full-
