     RED BRICK (153 Wh) RED CHARGERS RED Chargers keep REDVOLT, REDVOLT XL, and RED BRICK batteries charged, letting you focus on shoot- ing footage. The RED CHARGER, REDVOLT CHARGER (QUAD) and DSMC TRAVEL CHARGER replenish your depleted RED lithium-ion rechargeable batteries.

    D S M C P O W E R O P E R AT I O N G U I D E CABLES, ADAPTORS, AND ACCESSORIES RED power cables, adaptors and accessories are handmade and expertly crafted to the highest standards and are available in a variety of lengths for monitoring, audio and power supply requirements. RED performance cables feature robust industry-standard LEMO connectors, as well as a variety of connector sizes to support all of your displays, add-on modules and third party accessories.
  • Page 10: Chapter 2: Dsmc Power Modules

    Adaptors attach directly to the camera BRAIN, enabling rapid attachment of other modules using the quick locking mechanism on the bottom of the adaptors. Some DSMC power modules, such as the REDVOLT XL MODULE, offer unique features such as direct DSMC attachment and charging capabilities.
  • Page 11: Dsmc Adaptor Modules

    The MODULE ADAPTOR enables DSMC modules to connect the DSMC BRAIN for expandable functionality. The MODULE ADAPTOR features additional 1/4-20 mounting points on top for further add-ons and configuration support. Most RED DSMC modules require a MODULE ADAPTOR or +1 ADAPTOR MODULE to attach to your DSMC BRAIN.
  • Page 12 Connector ules WARNING: DO NOT USE the EVF/LCD port if a RED PRO I/O MODULE is connected to the DSMC BRAIN. NOTE: The default Auxiliary Power Output setting is ON. Use the on-screen menu to toggle this setting ON/OFF. In the menu screen, go to: Power > Power_Out > +1_PWR. After a DSMC firmware upgrade or factory reset, the default Auxiliary Power Output setting will be turned “ON”.

    Use the instructions in this section to install and remove DSMC adaptor modules and power modules. INSTALL THE MODULE ADAPTOR In order to attach most DSMC power modules, a MODULE ADAPTOR or +1 ADAPTOR MODULE must be in- stalled to the back of the camera BRAIN. These module adaptors are sold separately from DSMC modules.

    D S M C P O W E R O P E R AT I O N G U I D E REDVOLT XL MODULE The REDVOLT XL MODULE is a flexibly designed DSMC power module that provides power from a connected REDVOLT XL battery. The REDVOLT XL MODULE uses a reversible Switch Plate design, enabling the module to connect directly to the camera BRAIN or other DSMC modules.

    D S M C P O W E R O P E R AT I O N G U I D E QUICKPLATE MODULE The QUICKPLATE MODULE attaches to a +1 ADAPTOR MODULE or MODULE ADAPTOR to provide RED BRICK power support for the DSMC BRAIN. Unlike the BACKPACK QUICKPLATE, this product does not require the use of a LEMO connector cable or BACKPACK BASEPLATE.

    REDVOLT and REDVOLT XL batteries are lightweight and rechargeable batteries designed to power the DSMC BRAIN. REDVOLT batteries can be mounted to DSMC power modules for extended mobile shooting, or inserted into the DSMC SIDE HANDLE for low profile shorter term power.

    The RED BRICK uses multiple lithium-ion rechargeable battery cells to provide long-term battery power to the DSMC BRAIN for extended shooting sessions. RED BRICK batteries can be fastened to the DSMC BRAIN or equipment using a V-Mount battery plate and can also be used to power specific DSMC modules.
  • Page 36 BATTERY LED ARRAY The RED BRICK battery LED array consists of five LEDs and a button. When the button is pressed RED BRICK LEDs illuminate and display the current battery charge levels in 20% steps. If a single LED blinks or no LEDs illuminate when the button is pressed, then the battery is depleted and requires charging.

The RED CHARGER is capable of delivering up to four (4) Amperes in constant current mode, making this charger particularly suitable to users requiring a fast turnaround from their RED BRICK batteries. The RED CHARGER can power up to two RED BRICK batteries sequentially in approximately eight (8) hours.

    These power adaptors are sold separately as options to provide power support for DSMC BRAINS. AC POWER ADAPTOR (DSMC) The RED AC POWER ADAPTOR is available to keep the DSMC BRAIN shooting continuously via an AC power outlet. An industry-standard 2B LEMO connector attaches directly to the DSMC BRAIN.
