Disc drawer
USB 2.0 socket for USB memory sticks, as storage medium for BD-Live functions,
and playing back audio and video files.
This USB socket can be used to play DivX, WMA, JPEG or MP3 files. The
    
method of operation is described in the Chapter 'Operating the disc player
(media player)'.
The USB storage medium can draw power from the USB socket, provided that
the device's current drain is within the USB norm (< 500 mA). Hard disks with a
current drain of >500 mA can also be connected, provided that they are
powered by their own mains PSU.
To use BD-Live you must connect a memory stick with a capacity of at least 1 GB to
the USB socket.
The memory medium must be formatted using the FAT16 or FAT32 file system.
Socket for stereo headphones with an impedance of at least 50
When headphones are plugged in, the loudspeakers connected to the K8 in the
main room are automatically switched off.
When headphones are in use, the - button (menu loudspeaker and
    
headphone modes) can be pressed to switch on the Dolby headphone function,
which provides spatial surround reproduction via headphones.
The use of headphones
Continuous listening to programme material via earphones or head-
phones at very high volume can result in permanent hearing loss. You
can avoid damaging your health by not listening via headphones or ear-
phones at high levels for long periods.
Microphone socket (barrel socket)
A long press on the  front panel button opens and closes the disc
drawer.
Alternatively the drawer can be opened with a long press on the - button
on the remote control handset, and closed using the - button on the
handset.
Place the disc in the depression in the drawer; the side to be played must
face down.
If the drawer should jam, it is possible to open it manually. For more information
    
please refer to the Chapter entitled 'Trouble Shooting'.
