    Operating the iPod ....................... 44 About these instructions These ‘Operating Instructions’ describe all the controls and functions of the K8 which are used frequently. The section entitled ‘Installation’ describes all those controls and settings which are not often required, and are generally only needed when you are setting up and using the system for the first time.

  • Page 5 About these instructions The K8 amplifier with its seven output stages is extremely versatile: if all the output stages are not required for the surround system in the main room, they can be used to provide sound in up to three additional rooms or listening zones in the main room.

  • Page 8 Operating button      A brief press on this button selects the desired listening source. Press the but- ton repeatedly until the listening source of your choice is displayed. Source selection The signal from the selected source can now be played through the loud- speakers.

    The Infra-Red sensor for the remote control system is located within the screen FM100 area of the K8. There must be unobstructed line of sight between the FM100 and the machine’s integral screen.     Tone control settings (Tone menu) FM100 The K8 features a range of facilities for fine-tuning the sound to suit your      / personal preference, the listening environment and the particular recording cur-  Tone settings rently being played. All the tone control settings are grouped in the TONE menu.
  • Page 16 “Loudspeaker / Tone” menu. Loudness The K8 is equipped with an automatic level-dependent volume control system (LOUDNESS), designed to compensate for the frequency-dependent sen- sitivity of the ear at very low volume, caused by the physiology of the human auditory system.

    3-D Pass-Through 3-D picture signals cannot be processed by the K8, but can be passed through to the TV set (3-D Pass-Through function). Select the “Bypass” setting if you are using a source device which delivers 3-D pictures.

    The active alarm timer is indicated on the screen by the Timer LED, which glows constantly. You can now switch the K8 off. As long as the Timer LED is lit, the K8 will switch itself on at the pre-set time.

    Many functions of DVD and BluRay players are controlled using on-screen General menus. The K8 uses menus for the configuration process and for the basic device settings (Setup menu). The set-up procedure is described in detail in the chapter entitled ‘Setup menu (Settings)’.

    Disc menu and Setup menu (Settings) General notes on menu operation It is important to differentiate between two different menu functions: the Disc Introduction menu and the Setup menu. • The Disc menu is located on the DVD / BluRay disc itself. In this menu you can control special functions pertaining to the individual disc, such as language, sub-title selection, background information on the film, games, etc.
