The higher the assist level you have set, the more
distinct this assistance characteristic becomes.
• The level of assistance you have selected.
In the highest assist level (Boost), the motor as-
sists you with the highest output and therefore also
uses the most energy. If you have selected the low-
est assist level (Eco), you receive the least amount
of assistance but have the battery's maximum
range at your disposal.
• How fast you ride
When you set off on your Pedelec, the assistance
increases as you build up speed until it reaches its
maximum, just before the highest assisted speed
is achieved. Then it reduces automatically and
switches off at roughly 25 km/h, irrespective of the
gear you are in. Depending on the power-assist
mode you are riding in, the transition between rid-
ing with and without power assist may seem more
or less abrupt.

8.1.1 Energy recovery (recuperation)

Derives from the Latin word for "regain, recover". In
technology, "recovery" relates to the feeding of electric-
ity back into the battery. So once you have set the energy
recovery (or even braking assistance ➠ Chapter 8.1.2
"Braking assistance"), you can recharge the battery whilst
riding.
If electricity is being fed back into the battery, you will
see this symbol on the display:
Energy recovery
The energy recovery can be set using the arrow buttons.
The higher the energy recovery setting, the stronger the
deceleration.
The energy recovery only works under certain condi-
tions:
› The temperature range of the battery must be
between 0°C and 45°C. If the temperature drops
below 0°C, the energy recovery is automatically
deactivated.
› The speed must be between 10 and 28 km/h.
