  • Page 2 CONGRATULATIONS! his owner’s manual applies to the K-Line by Lionel EP-5 electric locomotives. Read this manual thoroughly for tips on operation and maintenance. When properly cared for your locomotive will provide many years of model railroading fun. If you have questions contact Customer Service.

    five seconds. Move ‘em out! • To move your EP-5 press the DIR button on your CAB-1 remote or Lionel transform- er. This sequences the reverse unit to the next operating state. • Adjust the track voltage to speed or slow the locomotive. To stop the locomotive cut off the track power.
  • Page 4 • Reverse Unit Reset Sound. Power down your track, wait for 3-5 seconds and listen for the air release sound-that’s the locomotive telling you that the Lionel Command reverse unit has just reset to forward operation.
  • Page 5 • Make sure track power is OFF before placing on the track. • Make sure your Lionel Command Base is ON and its communications wire is connected to the COMMON post on your Lionel transformer or the U on any of your installed PowerMasters.
  • Page 6 RUNNING YOUR EP-5 IN THE TRAINMASTER COMMAND ENVIRONMENT: our Command-equipped EP-5 comes factory-programmed with an ID# of “1.” To get your EP-5 in action, set PowerMasters to CMD or set all power supplies on full. Press ENG and “1” on CAB-1. Turn the throttle or press any command button; your EP-5 is ready for Command operations.
  • Page 7 TRAINMASTER COMMAND OPERATIONS: hen you press AUX1 on CAB-1, you turn the numeric keypad into 10 command buttons. The keypad lets you control extra command features (until you press any top-row button like SW, ACC, RTE, TR, or ENG). Railsounds sounds in bold italic. (Upgrade required for these).
