Saving or Restoring Your Configuration
Equalizer's backup and restore feature is designed to create backups of your existing configuration, so that the same
configuration can be restored in case of adminsitrative error (such as the accidental deletion of a cluster or VLAN).
When you save your configuration, Equalizer wraps up the following information in a binary file:
•
/var/eq/eq.conf
administrative interface, the failover configuration, interface IP addresses, and GUI logins.
•
/var/eq/envoy.conf
cluster and site information from the left pane of the administrative interface.
•
/var/eq/licenses
•
Configuration files from
,
resolv.conf
syslog.conf
Using a Backup Archive Created on Another Equalizer
The restore mechanism assumes that the system on which the restore is performed already has the same network
configuration as configured in the backup archive. It was not designed to be able to restore any arbitrarily configured
system to the configuration in the backup archive. For best results when restoring a backup file to a system other
than the unit on which it was created, please observe the following:
1.
A backup archive should only be restored to a unit of the exact same hardware model, running the exact same
software version. For example, a backup archive created on an E450GX running Version 8.5.1e should only be
restored on an E450GX running Version 8.5.1e.
2.
Equalizer should be already configured with the same network settings that are configured in the backup
archive.
3.
After the restore is complete, you must remove all licenses and re-license the unit.
Please contact Coyote Point Support (support@coyotepoint.com) for help if you need to restore an Equalizer using a
backup archive created on a different Equalizer hardware model or software release.
Backing Up Your Configuration
To back up your current configuration to a file, follow these steps:
1.
Log into the Administrative Interface using a login that has
