General information Entering text MFC models When setting certain menu selections, such as the Station ID and the name of a Speed Dial, you will need to type text characters. The dial pad keys have letters printed on them. The keys: 0, # and l do not have printed letters because they are used for special characters.

Receiving a fax (MFC models) Receive modes You must choose a receive mode depending on the external devices and telephone services you have on your line. Choosing the receive mode By default, your machine will automatically receive any faxes that are sent to it. The diagrams below will help you choose the correct mode.

Turn the drum unit gear by hand while looking at the surface of the drum roller (1). Wipe the surface of the drum gently with a dry cotton swab until the dust or glue on the surface comes off.

Troubleshooting and other information 6 Check the printer driver settings. Try changing the Print Settings in the Basic tab. If the paper is curled or the toner is not fixed well on the paper, you can adjust these settings in Improve Print Output. Click Other Print Options in the Advanced tab.
Document Jams (ADF Insert a piece of stiff paper, such as cardstock, into the ADF to push any models) small paper scraps through. Follow the steps below to handle a document jam in the ADF. Open the ADF cover. Pull the jammed document out. If the document rips or tears, be sure you remove all small paper scraps to prevent future jams.

Place the drum unit and toner cartridge WARNING assembly back in to the machine. Close the top cover. HOT SURFACE After pulling the pull-arm (1) on the left side of the machine down, close the scanner cover using both hands. Push down the lock lever and take the toner cartridge out of the drum unit.
