The EQ 55 allows you to set the alarm depths and to enable or disable both the minimum and maximum depth alarms. AUTORANGE Selecting Autorange will cause the EQ 55 to change the basic range setting(s) to keep the displayed bottom in the lower half of the display.
  • Page 150 Gain is another way of saying "sensitivity", or possibly "volume". Increasing the gain setting of the EQ 55 will allow you to see smaller and deeper targets. If the gain is set too high, however, you will begin to see "noise" and unwanted targets.

All operator control of the system is performed by manipulating the joystick. Low Frequency. The EQ 55 is provided with a low frequency channel to allow the user to see deeper targets than would normally be detectable with the high frequency channel.
  • Page 152 Serial interface describes the connections used between two or more pieces of computer equipment. SPEED INTERFACE The speed interface allows the user to connect the EQ 55 to a paddle wheel type of vessel speed sensor. The vessel speed can then be displayed on the EQ 55 display screen.
  • Page 153 Transducers are most often made from ceramic elements carefully built into a robust housing. The ceramic elements change shape when a voltage is placed across them (when the EQ 55 transmits a signal), and they also generate a voltage when they encounter sound waves (as when the EQ 55 is receiving an echo).
