6. BASIC OPERATION

6.1 PROHIBITED COMMUNICATIONS

The FCC prohibits the following communications:
False distress or emergency messages:
Messages to "any boat" except in emergencies and radio tests;
Messages to or from a vessel on land;
Transmission while on land;
Obscene, indecent, or profane language (potential fine of $10,000).

6.2 INITIAL SETUP

1. Install the battery pack on the transceiver (see section "4.2.2 BATTERY
INSTALLATION/REMOVAL").
2. Install the antenna onto the transceiver; hold the bottom end of the an-
tenna, then screw it onto the mating connector on the transceiver until it
is snug. Do not over-tighten.
