9:8 Centre of balance, adjustment
The centre of balance can be adjusted by changing the position of the
rear wheels.
-
Remove the axle sleeve and washers and move the rear axle
backwards or forwards as described in para 6:7
Also adjust the brakes, see para 6:8
Tool: 21mm socket wrench.
When the rear wheels position is adjusted forwards the wheelchair
becomes easier to propel and turn, but the risk of tipping backwards
increases.
(!) The centre of balance is also changed when the seat angle
and/or backrest angle is adjusted.
We recommend that an anti-tip be used.
Check carefully that the rear wheels are securely mounted,
see para 6:6.
9:9 HANDRIMS
Sting is delivered as standard with aluminium handrims.
The way in which the user is able to grip the handrims is
influenced both by the type of handrim chosen, and its distance
from the wheel. Stainless steel, friction coated, cellular rubber
and plastic coated handrims are available as options.
The optional handrims give a better grip, but also increase
friction. It is therefore important to remember that when
stopping suddenly friction burns (i.e. blisters) may occur
Remember that when passing through a narrow space you
may pinch your fingers between handrim and wall. Also be
careful that your fingers do not slip into the spokes.
If there is a risk that fingers will catch in the spokes
recommend the use of spoke guards.
