• Make sure the compressor neck area is clean.
• All parts. Replace as necessary.
Install or Connect (Figures 3, 20, 21, 22 and

Tools Required:
J 5403 Internal Snap Ring Pliers
J 23128-A Seal Seat Remover and Installer.
J 33011 O-Ring Seal Installer
J 34614 Shaft Seal Protector
J 9553-01

• Dip the new O-ring seal in clean 525 viscosity
1. J 34614 onto the shaft.
2. O-ring seal using J 33011 (figure 24).
3. Shaft lip seal using J 23128-A (figure 22).
4. Shaft seal retainer ring using J 5403 (figure 21).

5. Clutch plate and hub assembly (22).
|<--»| Remove or Disconnect (Figures 1 and 3)
• Be sure the compressor has no change.
1. Pressure relief valve (2).
2. O-ring (46).

• Lubricate the threads of the pressure relief valve

refrigerant oil.
• Insert J 33011 into the compressor neck until
the installer "bottoms."
• Lower the movable slide of J 33011, releasing
the O-ring seal into the lower groove.
• Rotate J 33011 to seat the O-ring seal and
remove J 33011.
• Dip the shaft lip seal in clean 525 viscosity
refrigerant oil and install shaft lip seal on
J 23128-A.
• Bottom the shaft lip seal into the compressor
neck area using J 23128-A.
• Install flat side of shaft seal retainer ring
against the lip seal.
• Remove J 34614.
| Important
• Leak test the compressor.
• Refer to " Leak Testing." .
Clean
• Shaft and inside the compressor neck area.
PRESSURE RELIEF VALVE
REPLACEMENT
Install or Connect (Figures 1 and 3)
(2) and new O-ring seal with 525 viscosity refriger­
ant oil.
