Configuring the daisy chain and power
considerations
There are five or six jumpers (depending on the revision level
of the board), numbered JMP1 thru JMP6, that control daisy
chaining on the VSW 2VGA A switcher (figure 2-15). Both data
and power must be daisy chained from one switcher to another.
N
Jumper JMP2 is not present on Revision C and newer
boards.
OPEN
All jumpers are set open (disabled) by default.
The jumpers must be set closed (enabled) when
the switchers are daisy chained together.
Open or close the indicated jumpers in the table below,
as needed, to adjust the appropriate settings.

These jumpers enable/disable VGA connector pin 5 (control)
and VGA connector pin 9 (power) of the switcher inputs and
outputs. Close (install) the jumper for VGA connector pin 5
to daisy chain data to the next switcher, and close (install) the
jumper for VGA connector pin 9 to daisy chain power to the
next switcher.
N
When the switchers are not daisy chained together, all
jumpers should be in the default (open) position.

* JMP2 and its settings apply to
VSW 2VGA A Revision B or
older switchers only.
Jumpers are required when daisy chaining for two separate
functions:
Routing the "show me" signal (JMP1, JMP3, and JMP5)
Routing the switcher power (JMP2*, JMP4, and JMP6)
N
* JMP2 is available only on older switcher models.
Each jumper, when closed (installed) allows the switcher to
pass the "show me" signal or power to the next switcher in the
daisy chain on one of the switcher's VGA connectors. When a
jumper is open (removed) that connector cannot pass the signal
or power. Pin 5 on each VGA connector carries the "show me"
signal. Pin 9 on each connector carries power.
Daisy chain a series of VSW 2 VGA switchers as follows:
For each VSW 2VGA A, connect the local video and audio
source (from the VSW I AAP) to input 1.
For each VSW 2VGA A, connect the daisy chained video
and audio (from another VSW 2VGA) to input 2.
If the daisy chain consists of more than five VSW 2VGA A
switchers, you need to incorporate a second 12 VDC
power supply into the system.
Split the switchers into two separate powered groups
of approximately equal numbers (within one of each
other)
Connect a 12 VDC power supply to the middle
switcher in each group.
Remove jumper JMP6 (power output) from the the last
switcher in the daisy chained group furthest from the
f
display (
in figure 2-16) and/or jumper JMP4 (power
input) from the first switcher in the group closest to the
e
display (
in figure 2-16).
For the last VSW 2VGA A in the chain, remove jumper
JMP6 (+5 VDC output) to prevent applying power to the
video destination (projector or flat panel display).
