Chassis Description & Troubleshooting

6. Fan Control

The Fan drive power supplies "FAN_A", "FAN_B", "FAN_C", "FAN_D1", "FAN_D2", "FAN_E" and "16V_M" are gener-
ated in the POWER(DC) board. Each power supply drives fans as follow;
FAN_A...............Fan FN901, FN902, FN903 for LCD panel cooling and fan FN904 for PBS cooling
FAN_B...............Fan FN907 for POWER 1,2(AC) board cooling and fan FN905 for main exhaust
FAN_C ..............Fan FN908 for Lamp2 cooling and fan FN909 for lamp exhaust
FAN_D1 ............Fan FN910 for Lamp1 cooling
FAN_D2 ............Fan FN914 for Lamp2 cooling
FAN_E...............Fan FN911 for lamp ballast unit cooling
16V_M...............Fan FN913 for mechanical shutter cooling
When an abnormality occurs on any one of the fans FN901 to FN905, FN907, FN908, FN910, FN911 or FN914, each
fan lock signal "FAN_PF" is sent to the detection circuit on the POWER(DC) board. The POWER(DC) board sends
the abnormality to the IC801<CPU> via the IIC bus. When the abnormality occurs on the fans FN909 or FN913, each
fan lock signal "FAN_PF" is sent to IC4714<INPUT EXPANDER>. IC4714 sends the abnormality to the IC801 via the
parallel bus.
Temperature Sensors (IC8801, IC8841)
The temperature sensors IC8801 on the LCD DRIVE board and IC8841 on the TEMP. SENS. board measure sur-
rounding temperature and sends data to IC801<CPU> via the IIC bus. IC801 controls proper fan spinning speed
based upon this temperature data. Also, when the temperature rises over a specified value, IC801 judges that there
is abnormal internal temperature and turns off the projector.
Atmosphere Sensor (IC4895)
The deviation of the atmosphere due to high altitude difference changes airflow of the cooling fan. IC4895 measures
the atmosphere at the setting place of the projector, and sends data to the IC801<CPU> via the IC4801<I/O EX-
PANDER>. IC801 controls proper fan spinning speed based upon this atmosphere data. (PRESS_SENSOR)
G- Sensor (IC5711)
When the installation angle of the projector exceeds a specified degree, the fan speed will be increased to keep the
best cooling performance. IC5711 is a sensor to detect the angle of the installed projector.
IC5711
[NO POWER]
When one of the fans is failure, it cannot be turned on the projector due to the power failure protection.
Check the Lamp Warning LED indication
Check that the connectors of the fans and boards are connected firmly.
