OPERATION

Operating The Snow Blower

The snow blower is used to clear snow from sidewalks, driveways
and parking lots
.
Tip: Damage to the snow blower and the BRUTUS may be caused if the
PTO is engaged while in the travel position.
WARNING!
AVOID INJURY OR DEATH
Never direct discharge toward bystanders, building or other property.
Foreign objects or ice chunks can be thrown great distances.
NOTICE: AVOID PTO DRIVELINE DAMAGE. PTO powered attachments
are not compatible with the tilt cylinder full range of motion.
Engage the tilt cylinder lock once the attachment is level to
prevent PTO driveline damage.
1. Adjust the skid shoes to set the cutting edge height. See page
22.
2. Adjust the tilt cylinder to set the cutting edge level with the
ground. Engage the tilt lock. See page 18.
3. Adjust deflector to control the distance the snow is thrown. See page 22.
4. Enter the utility vehicle. See page 16.
5. Start the engine.
6. Rotate the discharge chute to the desired position. See page 21.
7. Lower the attachment, keeping the snow blower 76 - 101 mm (3 - 4 in) from ground. See page 25.
8. Engage the PTO. See page 23.
9. Lower the snow blower setting the skid shoes on the ground.
10. Slowly drive the utility vehicle forward. Watch for and avoid obstructions and obstacles that may cause damage to the
snow blower and utility vehicle.
NOTICE: Damage to the snow blower and utility vehicle may occur by hitting objects that can be easily hidden in the snow.
11. When at the end of a pass, stop and raise the snow blower 76 - 101 mm (3 - 4 in) from ground. Use caution when raising
the snow blower when the PTO is engaged, if the snow blower is raised too high, the attachment PTO shaft may bind
causing damage.
Tip: Caution is to be used when raising the snow blower when the PTO is engaged.
Tip: If additional lift height is required for travel, disengage the PTO, then raise the snow blower to desired height.
12. Drive the utility vehicle to the desired starting point, while moving over up to 3/4 the width of the snow blower.
13. Follow steps 9 through 12 until the area is cleared.
The utility vehicle speed is determined by the depth and density of the snow.
WARNING!
FLYING OBJECTS AND ROTATING PARTS CAN CAUSE INJURY OR DEATH
• Stay at least 3 m (10 ft) away from operating equipment
• Stop engine before cleaning or servicing.
• Keep all guards in place.
Disengage the PTO when finished clearing snow from the work area. See page 24.
