    • Always keep hands and feet inside the vehicle at all times. • The Polaris BRUTUS is not intended for on-highway use. Driver must be at least 16 years old with a valid driver’s license to operate. Passengers must be at least 12 years old and tall enough to sit with feet firmly on the floor. All SxS drivers should take a safety training course.

    • Never operate your vehicle in fast-flowing water or in water deeper than that specified in the BRUTUS owner’s manual. Wet brakes may have reduced stopping ability. Test your brakes after leaving water. If necessary, apply them lightly several times to let friction dry out the pads.
  • Page 10 WARNING! Failure to operate the BRUTUS properly can result in a collision, loss of control, accident or overturn, which may result in serious injury or death.     DAILY INSPECTION Snow Blower Mounting Frame Inspect the mounting flange (Item 1) and all welds on the attachment for wear or damage each time the attachment is removed from the machine.   • Page 18 Installation Installing The Snow Blower Always inspect the utility vehicle’s mounting frame and attach- ment front mounting frame before installation. See the BRUTUS owner’s manual. See Daily Inspection on page 14. WARNING! Warnings on the machine and in the manuals are for your safety. Failure to obey warnings can cause serious injury or death.
  • Page 19 Tip: Once the attachment is leveled, the tilt function of the utility vehicle can be locked so it does not need to be readjusted. (See the BRUTUS Owner’s Manual for additional information). NOTICE: AVOID PTO DRIVELINE DAMAGE. PTO powered attachments are not compatible with the tilt cylinder full range of motion.

  • Page 21 Tighten all connections before starting the utility vehicle. Tip: Check the attachment hydraulic hoses so the hoses are not twisted or contacting any moving parts of the BRUTUS or attachment.
  • Page 22 OPERATION Controls Joystick The joystick control lever will be used to control the utility vehi- cle PRO-TACH attachment system. Move the joystick control lever forward to lower the attachment arm (Item 1). Move the joystick control lever backward to raise the attachment arm (Item 2).

    Operating The Snow Blower The snow blower is used to clear snow from sidewalks, driveways and parking lots Tip: Damage to the snow blower and the BRUTUS may be caused if the PTO is engaged while in the travel position. WARNING! AVOID INJURY OR DEATH Never direct discharge toward bystanders, building or other property.

    LIFTING THE ATTACHMENT Procedure Fasten the chain to the snow blower (Item 1). Tip: Use chains that are in good condition and of adequate size to lift the attachment. TRANSPORTING THE ATTACHMENT ON A TRAILER Fastening With the snow blower on the transport vehicle, place the chain (Item 1) around the outer auger shaft (Item 2).

See BRUTUS owner’s manual for procedure. • Install chains on the attachment (if needed). • Fasten each end of the chain to the transport vehicle and secure with chain binders.

    MAINTENANCE SAFETY WARNING! Instructions are necessary before operating or servicing machine. Read and understand the Owner’s Manual, Operator’s Hand- book and signs (decals) on machine. Follow warnings and instructions in the manuals when making repairs, adjustments or ser- vice. Check for correct function after adjustments, repairs or service. Untrained operators and failure to follow instructions can cause injury or death CORRECT WARNING!

    Lubricate the Drive Chain. Lubricate the drive chain with chain lubricant. See your dealer. Replace Gearbox Lube. Drain and replace fluid (Approximately 10.2 fl. oz. (0.3 L) of Polaris Premium Angle Drive Fluid). [1] Service at first 10 hours and then as scheduled.

    If the oil does not flow out of the check port, remove the breather / fill plug (Item 2). Add oil (Polaris Premium Angle Drive Fluid) until the oil begins to flow out of the check port. Reinstall check plug and breather / fill plug.

    MAINTENANCE Skid Shoe Adjustment Slightly raise the snow blower and support the cutting edge with blocks. Stop the engine and exit the machine. See page 16. Loosen the bolts (Item 1). Adjust the skid shoe to the desired height (Item 2). Tighten the bolts (Item 1). Loosen the bolts (Item 1).
  • Page 38 MAINTENANCE Lubrication Locations Lubricate as specified in the service schedule for the best perfor- mance of the snow blower. See page 37. Always use a good quality lithium based multipurpose grease. Apply lubricant until extra grease shows. Lubricate the following: PTO Driveline Utility Vehicle: Two locations (Items 1) on the PTO driveline.
  • Page 39 Install and tighten drain plug. Remove the check plug (Item 2). Remove the fill plug (Item 3). Add oil (Polaris Premium Angle Drive Fluid) through the fill port (Item 3) until the oil begins to flow out of the check port (Item 2).
  • Page 40 Removal and Installation of Shear Bolt Remove any remaining portion of the old shear bolt (Item 1) from the shaft. Tip: Use only shear bolts recommended by Polaris. Tip: When replacing shear bolts for the auger, the auger paddles must be 180° from each other.
  • Page 41 MAINTENANCE Removal and Installation of the Cutting Edge To replace cutting edge (Item 1), lift and block the snow blower to keep from falling. Remove the bolts and nuts (Item 2) and remove the cutting edge. Tip: The cutting edge is reversible. Installation: Tighten nuts to 65 - 70 ft-lb (88 - 95 Nm) torque.
