NOTICE: Extension cable
can be any Type-­T 18 A WG
wire similar to a thermostat
wire and need not be polarity
sensitive.
Do Not apply sealant to the
remote control cable.
It is not recommended to
have wiring exposed.
Use only 18 A WG
Thermostat wire.
Do not use network cable,
telephone wire or any twisted
pair cable.

Remote Control Installation
Connecting the MAIN (UMC-­117 ) remote
control to the water heater:
G Drill a 1" (2.5 cm) to 1-­1/2" (3.8 cm) hole
at the proposed control location.
G Install the remote control cable between the
location of the remote control and the
water heater.
G Remove the base plate from the control.
G Feed the remote control cable through the
central hole in the base plate.
G Fix the base plate to the wall using
suitable screws and wall anchors.
Ensure the projections on the base
plate are pointing upward.
G Place the remote control over the
base plate. Ensure the projections in
the base plate fit into the housings in
the remote control.
G Fix the control to the base plate at the
bottom of the remote control using the
screw provided.
G Proceed to "Connecting the remote
control to the water heater", to complete
installation.

Connecting the remote control to the water
heater:
G Ensure that the power to the water heater
has been disconnected.
G Loose the 1 screw located on the remote
control connection cover made of white
plastic (see the diagram on the left top).
G Connect the remote control cables from
the remote control with the remote control
connection terminals (see the diagram on
the left bottom).
NOTICE: The remote control connection
terminals are not polarity sensitive.
G Firmly tighten the terminal screws.
G Secure the remote control cable on the
hook located on the side of the remote
control connection base.
G Tighten the 1 screw and attach the remote
control connection cover to the water
heater.
G Switch on the power supply to the water
heater.
G Ensure proper operation of the remote
control and water heater.
