REMOVAL OF SELF LOCK NUT
With the
special
tool,
disconnect
the lower arm ball joint
and knuckle.
Caution
While the
specialtool is being used, do not remove the
self locking
nut;
only loosen it.
6.
REMOVAL OF STABILIZER LINK INSTALLANON NUT
Hold
the
stabilizer link
with a
wrench and remove the
installation nut.

Check
the
bushing
for wear
and
deterioration.
o
Check
the
upper arm or lower arm
for
bend or breakage.
.
Check
the
ball
joint dust
cover
for
cracks.
o
Check
all bolts
for
condition and
straightness.
CHECKING
OF BALL JOINT
FOR STARNNG TOROUE
(1) lf
a
crack
is noted in the dust cover,
replace
it,
adding
grease.

Deflect side
to
side the ball joint stud
several times.
(3) Mount two
nuts on the balljoint,
and
then measure the
ball
joint
starting torque.
Sandard value:
2-9
Nm
(2O-90
kgcm,
17-78

(4) lf the
starting torque exceeds the upper limit of
standard
value, replace
the
upper and lower arm
assembly.
(5)
Even
if the starting torque is below the lower limit of the
standard value,
the
ball
ioint inay be reused unless
it
has
drag and excessive play.
BALL JOINT DUST
COVER REPIÄCEMENT

(1)
Remove
the dust
cover.
(2) Apply multipurpose
grease t0 the lip and inside of the dust
cover.
(3) Drive in the dust cover
with
special
tool until
it
is
fully
seated.
LOWER
ARM
BUSHING

Use
the special tool
to remove and press fit
the
bushing.
